Captain on bus

A security conductor on bus shouted”mask, your mask” in English to two girls just onboard. I doubted if I had been in a trance, but realized the conductor did say the word. There are many “first time” in one’s life and I just got another one. His urge replied to, the middle-aged man conductor sat back and murmured “now move on”. It was raining outside and at that moment, the man conductor felt like a Captain.

Netease Cloud V.S Elementary students

An Bilibili Up called Daoyueshe visited some children in a remote village. However, the video did not introduce the audience into a typical tear-ridden scene: poor little children left behind by parents who had to work thousands of miles from home in first-tier cities to support the family. On the contrary, some well-knowned frustration sentences are excerpted from Netease Cloud Music, a must app where many would unleash their sentiments in dramatic language in the middle of night. For instance, there are “born as a human, I am so sorry”. But in Daoyueshe’s video, the last half of the sentence was left out for the elementary students to fill in. Children’s innocence was always sincere and even revealing, soemtimes painfully about their lonely and underpriviledged childhood. A noteworthy scene was when a boy wept in completing a sentence that invoked his experience of meeting his elder sister only once a month, Popar Treetop (the female Up of the duo) hugged the boy and covered him from other children’s sight. The cam footage did not linger here too long, either. “Compassionately great.” I would say so in retrospection. I shared this with Way, who seemed also to have had a wonderful day across western wilderness of China.

Travel afar

To expand one’s existence in time and space. Then we may have a more solid and enlarged container for any “the meaning of life”.

Do not go gentle into that good night

Then last week again I remembered this poem. I think this poem is suitable for a son or a father or anyone who senses that one should not easiy settle for anything below life’s potentiality or… Hope.

Dylan Thomas – 1914-1953

Trans by 巫宁坤, author of A Single Tear

  • Do not go gentle into that good night,
  • Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
  • Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
  • Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
  • Because their words had forked no lightning they
  • Do not go gentle into that good night.
  • Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
  • Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
  • Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
  • Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
  • And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
  • Do not go gentle into that good night.
  • Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
  • Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
  • Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
  • And you, my father, there on the sad height,
  • Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
  • Do not go gentle into that good night.
  • Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

不要温和地走进那个良夜,

老年应当在日暮时燃烧咆哮;
